WORST PRESENTATION EVER (REFLECTION)
ACTIVITY: Watch the video "WORST PRESENTATION EVER EVER,AVI" and answer the following questions. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69JZD60eR6s)
1. WHAT ARE YOUR IMPRESSIONS ABOUT THE RESEARCH PRESENTATION?
The presentation feels disconnected from its intended audience. It lacks the professional tone and structure that would engage an adult audience, instead relying on a style that might be more suited to children. This mismatch makes it difficult for the audience to stay interested, and as a result, the presentation feels unengaging and irrelevant. It's akin to watching a movie that lacks depth, where the audience is simply waiting for it to end. The content, delivery, and design don't align with the expectations or preferences of the viewers.
2. WHAT WHAT MAKES THE PRESENTATION WORST?
Several elements contribute to making the presentation less effective. The use of a distracting template and unprofessional slides detracts from the content, and the choice of fonts and colors doesn't help in maintaining the audience’s focus. Additionally, the presenter reads directly from the slides in a monotonous tone, which makes the delivery feel robotic and lacks the energy needed to engage the audience. The lack of humor or any attempt to connect with the audience further diminishes its impact, making it harder for viewers to remain interested.
3. IN WHAT WAYS CAN THE PRESENTATION BE IMPROVED?
To improve the presentation, it's important to first focus on understanding the topic thoroughly, so the content can be presented confidently and accurately. The presentation should adopt a more formal, structured approach that is appropriate for an adult audience. It should be clear and concise, focusing on key points without overwhelming the audience with unnecessary information. Additionally, the design of the slides should be clean, professional, and easy to read. The use of engaging visuals, appropriate fonts, and colors can help maintain attention. The presenter should avoid reading directly from the slides and instead engage with the audience by speaking naturally and varying their tone to keep things dynamic. A touch of humor, when appropriate, can also lighten the mood and make the presentation more enjoyable, while still maintaining professionalism.
